RNA symposium speaker spotlight - Stefano Biffo

Stefano Biffo is Principal Investigator and Group Leader at the INGM (National Institute of Molecular Genetics) and Full Professor of Comparative Anatomy at the University of Milan. He holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. After postdoctoral fellowships at the Roche Institute of Molecular Biology (USA) and the Max Planck Institute for Psychiatry (Munich, Germany), he served as Group Leader at the San Raffaele Research Institute and Associate Professor at the University of Eastern Piedmont before moving to INGM in 2014.

Dr. Biffo's main research interests include translational control in cancer, monogenic diseases, and tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes. He made a significant contribution to the field by isolating eIF6 and demonstrating its activity as a rate-limiting factor in the initiation of translation, advancing our understanding of protein synthesis regulation in disease contexts.
